Neil Horstman, President of the White House Historical Association, gave remarks at the Willard InterContinental’s Holiday Tree Lighting on December 5, 2013. Beginning in 2012, the WHHA and the Willard have partnered for a holiday tree lighting, highlighting the WHHA’s annual White House Christmas Ornament. 32 years of WHHA ornaments decorated this year’s tree, including the 2013 ornament honoring President Woodrow Wilson. Wilson, known as the “President of Peace,” founded the League of Nations at the Willard, providing a very special connection for the partnering organizations.
