Decatur House Curator Leslie Jones supervises the installation of the six Japanese panel paintings at Decatur House. The paintings, a gift from President Ulysses S. Grant to former Decatur House resident Truxtun Beale, spent just over a year being conserved. The extensive conservation work was made possible by two generous grants from the Sumitomo Foundation of Japan. (Photo by Matthew Paul D'Agostino / WHHA) 2013 White House Historical Assocation
